WORDS OF THE SOUL

Words have been our way of expressing our thoughts and feelings through all these years. It's true that actions speak louder than words but we can't really deny that without words, actions won't be that effective.

Different countries have varying languages and they use it in ways that only the natives of that place are capable of understanding them. Here in the Philippines, we consider Tagalog as our national language and English as our secondary.

In 1937, Tagalog was selected as the basis of the national language of the Philippines by the National Language Institute. In 1939, Manuel L. Quezon named the national language "Wikang Pambansâ". Manuel L. Quezon is considered as the "Ama ng Pambansang Wika" because of his declaration of Tagalog as the national language of the Filipinos. Tagalog is an Austronesian language spoken in the Philippines by about 22 million people. The Filipino language is in evolution, development and further enrichment on the basis of existing languages of the Philippines and other languages. It is the first language of Filipinos living in Metro Manila and the second language of most Filipinos.

Like English, Tagalog should be used correctly and give it the proper importance it deserves. Just imagine yourself living in a country where people have different languages. It's really hard to stay in a place where dialects vary.

Tagalog has been the bridge of many Filipinos here and abroad. It continues to guide each Filipino towards one and only goal and that is success. But there are instances wherein words aren't enough to describe one's thoughts and feelings but still they are the way towards one's mind, heart and even soul.
